Expanded Field was an experimental inquiry into the public and civic spaces of Geelong.

Referencing Rosalind Krauss’s 1979 essay Sculpture in the Expanded Field, Expanded Field was conceived as a malleable framework deployed as a lab, a space open for exploration and re-imagining through dialogic exchange and the action of walking the city.

Facilitated by artists, academics and architects, the lab was designed to explore the city through spatial practice, architecture and phenomenological interventions, leading to a series of text-based works installed throughout Geelong in 2022.
